Therapy Caps Update

Genesis Rehab Services is proud to share the success of our collaborative efforts and announce that legislation has been passed for an EXTENSION OF THE MEDICARE B THERAPY CAPS EXCEPTION PROCESS THROUGH 2007 that the president signed into law.

On Saturday, December 9th, the Senate passed legislation to extend the therapy caps exceptions process through 2007 and provide relief from the proposed 5 percent sustainable growth rate formula (SGR) cut in the Medicare physician fee schedule.

Therapy Caps Information

The Rehabilitation Therapy Caps were implemented on January 1, 2006, and Medicare Providers are responsible for informing beneficiaries of these financial restrictions on their therapy services. To assist Providers in understanding the process, Genesis Rehab Services has posted these essential documents:

  • The CMS Transmittal is the only guidance currently available to Medicare Providers regarding implementation of the Therapy Caps and the process required to inform Medicare Beneficiaries.

  • CMS form#20007 NEMB is the recommended form to be used by Providers to inform beneficiaries that the Medicare will no longer pay for their rehabilitation services.
